Reiki Classes
As a Reiki Master/Teacher, I teach classes in Reiki Level I and Level II. I also teach Reiki Master/Teacher classes for those who are Reiki I and II trained, are experienced Reiki practitioners, and are interested in teaching Reiki themselves and/or are seeking a deeper understanding and experience of Reiki.
Reiki is taught by attuning the student to the Reiki energy, rather than by memorizing a series of steps. It is therefore quite easily and quickly learned.
Reiki practice is taught in two basic levels, usually called First Degree, or Level I and Second Degree, or Level II. Each level can be learned in about 8 hours, which can be taught as a one-day workshop, two half–days of 4 hours each, or four 2–hour sessions, generally on one evening a week for 4 weeks, depending on what works best for the students. Classes can be taught at your location or mine.
First Degree, or Reiki Level I, is the beginning level of Reiki training. It connects you to the Reiki energy through four attunements and teaches some of the basic hand positions. In addition to learning the basics and receiving the Reiki attunements, the class includes lots of practice in giving Reiki both to yourself and to the others in the class. At the conclusion of the Reiki Level I class you are certified to provide Reiki to others.
Second Degree, or Reiki Level II, opens you to the full power of Reiki. Once you have been trained and certified in Reiki Level I and have had some time to practice the basic skills, you will be qualified to take Reiki II. In this level you are attuned to, and taught the use of, the three basic Reiki symbols and their mantras. In addition to lots of hands-on healing practice, you will learn to send Reiki to someone who is not physically present. At the conclusion of this class you will be certified as Reiki Level II.
The Third Degree, or Reiki Level III, is the Master/Teacher level, for certified Reiki II practitioners who are interested in more advanced work with the Reiki energy and/or wish to teach the system of Reiki. The Reiki Master/Teacher class takes approximately one year, meeting at least one half-day a month for 12 sessions, with lots of practice during each class and homework in between classes. At the conclusion of the class you will be certified to teach Reiki to others.
As much as possible I tailor all my classes to the desires of my students. So for example if your primary interest is learning to do Reiki for friends and family, the class will include that focus. If you are a medical practitioner who wishes to use Reiki with your patients, we will include specific ways to do that.
I prefer to keep my Reiki classes small—5 to 7 people is ideal—so I can give plenty of one-on-one attention to each student. My Reiki classes are as much retreats as they are formal classes. In addition to giving and receiving Reiki, the classes include meditation, frequent breaks, and even time to walk our labyrinth if you wish (and weather permitting). I generally teach Reiki classes at my Redwood City home but I am also available to teach classes at your location. You will receive a copy of my Reiki manual and a certificate of completion for each class. If the class is a one-day class at my home, lunch is included.
Please note:
- Certification in Reiki I is required to take Reiki II, and certification in Reiki II is required to take the Master/Teacher class
- Continuing Education Contact Hours are available for nurses who take Reiki I or Reiki II. Provider approved as Blue Rose Healing Arts by the State of California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number 15091 for 5 contact hours. Full refund given for cancellations received at least one full week prior to the scheduled class.
My Reiki background
I have been a Reiki practitioner since 1994. In 2004 I took my first Master/Teacher class and immediately began teaching, primarily to hospice staff including nurses, social workers, home health aids, and volunteers. Since I first began teaching Reiki I have taught well over 100 students, teaching classes in all three levels of Reiki. In addition to seeing private clients I am a Reiki volunteer for Kaiser Hospice and am one of a group of volunteers providing Reiki sessions to the staff of the cancer center at Stanford Medical Center.
I am a Master/Teacher graduate of Frans Stiene of the International House of Reiki. I practice and teach Reiki in the powerful tradition of its Japanese founder, Mikao Usui.
